New law boosts US business for Laetus
In the United States, the world's currently strictest law for the labelling of pharmaceuticals is in the works: In the future, every medication will have an electronic pedigree that documents the entire life cycle of its preparation, and pharmaceutical manufacturers must provide the infrastructure necessary. Laetus, the world market leader for GMP-compliant packaging security, will benefit from the mandated challenge to these companies. At the just-concluded West Pack Show in Anaheim, California, there was enormous interest in solutions from the security experts.
Continuous track and trace systems like the ones Laetus offers have been in short supply in the United States. Many pharmaceutical producers still combine the inspection modules and components of different manufacturers with modified software. This often leads to interface problems and high maintenance costs. Once the e-pedigree law takes effect, pharmaceutical companies will have to comply with significantly stricter standards, since general serialization and traceability will be mandatory. The industry will probably have until 2015 to equip their production accordingly.
At the West Pack Show, Laetus presented PrintSpect @ MV-50, a suitable solution for serialization. The machine handles both the marking and the verification of printing for up to 400 cartons per minute. Its flexible software permits convenient integration into existing lines.
Laetus has continually built its presence in the American market for years. In the meantime, a network of sales and service centres guarantees reliable, first-class international support. Laetus customers also benefit from Laetus being a member of the Coesia Group.
